A Time of Transition

SAPC  is in period of transition.  We currently have an  interim pastor who will serve until a new Pastor and Head of Staff is selected and called to our church.  The Rev. John A. Muse is serving as SAPC's Interim Pastor.   For more about Reverend Muse, click here.

Mission/Vision Task Force

In order to plan for the future and call the person with the right skill set to lead it, SAPC engaged in a period of intentional discernment.  Part of this discernment process was to form a Mission/Vision Task Force composed of two Elders, two Deacons, and three members of the congregation at-large, including a youth representative (for a total of 7 members).  The Task Force was charged with clarifying SAPC’s current position and projecting what God is calling the congregation to do in the future.

SAPC’s intentional interim pastor, Rev. John A. Muse, was hired to lead the Task Force through this process with the support of the SAPC Session and a transitional committee under the supervision of the Committee on Ministry (COM) of Trinity Presbytery.  It began its work in May and met every Sunday afternoon after worship for one hour throughout the summer. These meetings were open to the congregation, and some members did sit in on occasion to observe the process.  The Task Force has now completed its work and has generated a document entitled “2018 Mission/Vision Study of SAPC.”  The document can be viewed by clicking on the following link: SAPC Study.

Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC)

On Sunday, September 23rd, the Session approved calling a special congregational meeting for October 14th following the 11 : 00 a.m. worship service. The meeting was conducted as called. The purpose of the meeting was to elect members to serve as the SAPC Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) . The PNC will seek and nominate a new pastor for SAPC. The PNC consists of two (2) active Elders, one (1) active Deacon, and four (4) members-at-large, one of whom is a youth. The make-up of the PNC is as balanced as possible with regard to male/female and young/old representation. The PNC will serve until the new pastor is hired and assumes his/her position. Those elected on October 14 are Greg Burkes, Shirley Colburn, Robert Glance, Crissy Kuhl, Brooke Sheehan, Haley Culp, and Corey Glenn (youth).

With God's continued grace and direction, SAPC is continuing to Opening Doors To Serve  Christ.
